Under the portfolio of the Dubai Art Season 2016 initiatives, ArtintheCity in partnership with the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated Authority for heritage, arts, and culture, are now accepting design proposals from UAE-based artists for the tenth edition of the ArtBus, which is returning to Dubai from 17 - 19 March, 2016.

This year artists based in the UAE are invited to take inspiration from creative written works, including books, poetry, and drama, when submitting their design proposals. The artists selected from the open call will be commissioned by Dubai Culture to complete their artworks to full scale. These visual interpretations of literature by the UAE's creative community will be brought to the attention of both residents and visitors when the artworks are featured on the exterior of the ArtBus as it travels across the city in March, Dubai's most important cultural month.

Individual applicants can download the project brief and application form from www.dubaiculture.gov.ae and www.ArtintheCity.com, and this should be submitted to community@thejamjardubai.com by 11 February 2016. The successful applicants will be selected and commissioned by ArtintheCity and Dubai Culture to create their proposed artworks, which will be featured on marketing collateral and printed and wrapped onto the ArtBus as it travels across Dubai in March 2016. The ArtBus commission initiative offers locally based artists the chance to work with a unique exhibition format, whilst also enabling them to reach a wide audience across Dubai.

Artists who have created artwork for the ArtBus in previous years include HH Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum, Eman Al Raesi, and Aliaa Bishr (2015); Afra Bin Dhaher, Hala Makhlouf, and Mark Ganzon (2014), Talin Hazber, Maisoon Al Saleh, Ruben Sanchez, and Abdullah Lutfi (2013), Nada Khaled, Maryam Al Falasi, and Tulip Hazbar (2012), Zainab Al Hashemi, Saeed Al Madani, and Sheikha Bin Daher (2011).

As in previous years, the ArtBus will follow three daily routes across Dubai from March 17 - 19 2016, including the three major art hubs: Al Quoz, Jumeirah/Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, and DIFC/Downtown. Tickets will be available in 2016 from ArtintheCity, at the rate of AED 50 per person per day/route.

Submissions close on 11 February 2016.
