Dr. Salah Abdul Aziz Al Qassim, Advisor, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority
Dr. Salah Al Qassim is an Advisor to Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), bringing more than two decades of active engagement in Dubai's cultural and artistic scene to the role. As an Advisor to the Authority, Dr. Salah is responsible for delivering essential inputs into Dubai's thriving cultural landscape. His extensive experience provides Dubai Culture and Arts Authority with rich insights to promote Dubai's heritage, culture and arts.
Dr. Salah's role focuses on increasing public and stakeholder awareness of the Authority's mandate in order to achieve key Dubai Plan 2021 objectives. These include establishing the Emirate as a definitive cultural destination and fast-growing arts hub, and to further establish Dubai as a city for happy, creative and empowered people according to the vision of Dubai's wise leadership.
After acquiring a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications from United Arab Emirates University in 1984, Dr. Salah started his career at the UAE Ministry of Education, where he was responsible for the school activities management. In this role, he was responsible for developing and presenting television programmes at Dubai Television, with a focus on education issues, society, heritage and history. He then went on to pursue further higher education, culminating in a PhD Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Wales, UK, in 1995.
Prior to his role at Dubai Culture, Dr. Salah was previously responsible for the Information Department at the Directorate of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) for eight years, now renamed Dubai Health Authority. His duties at DOHMS included planning and executing projects aimed at raising awareness of social health and community work, and developing a network of sponsors for the medical camps from government and private hospitals and clinics in Dubai.
Previous tenures of Dr. Salah include serving as Secretary General of Dubai Cultural Council, where he designed and executed a number of cultural programmes over four years, and managed a wide array of activities aimed at driving excellence within the Emirate's cultural and artistic arenas.
Dr. Salah serves on the board of numerous cultural committees including the Cultural and Scientific Association and Al Jalila Cultural Centre. He was involved in the Strategic Planning Committee of Dubai Health Authority, Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award Committee, the Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises Organising Committee amongst others.
